While listening to President barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last night, l was literally in tears. No need for me to going in depth on Obama’s profound words or the sense of purpose and urgency he cast. But let’s just say that if you heard the same speech that I did, and you were not moved like my buddy Charles Krauthammer, you’re a fucking corpse. Forget about Obama breaking down the definition of citizenship by acknowledging our responsibility towards each other more so than government has for us.

According to Krauthammer (and many other pundits I managed to hear this morning), Obama’s speech was short on substance, lacked vision, and was “one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage.” But hey, Krauthammer is the same asshole who said Michelle Obama’s speech was not “authentic,” a few days ago.

This from the Daily Caller:

During Fox News Channel’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention Thursday night in Charlotte, N.C., Krauthammer said Obama’s speech lacked vision and called it “one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage.”

“I was stunned,” Krauthammer said. “This is a man who gave one of the great speeches of our time in 2004, and he gave one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage. Yes, it had cadence, and yes, there were deceptions in it. But that is not what is so striking about it. There was nothing in it.”

“This is a man who believes that government can and should do a lot. There is nothing in here that tells us how he’s going to go from today to tomorrow. For any of the so-called goals and what government is going to do, what is he going to enact?”

Um, since when does the president “enact” anything?

Krauthammer also questioned some of the numbers the president used when laying out what he called a “vision.”

“At least Romney had a five-point plan,” he said. “What we heard from Obama was a vision. And he pulls numbers out of a hat — 100,000 new math and science teachers, 600,000 more people working in natural gas, 2 million more trainees. And he doesn’t say how we get from A to B. It’s a vision.”

“I have a vision of an America where there is no disease and everybody has a private airplane, but unless I tell you how we get there, I’ve said nothing. And what is so surprising, is that all he had left — he can’t speak about his record on the economy, and it’s not a good one. As we heard earlier, he didn’t speak about achievements, the one that’s liberals like, Obamacare, stimulus and etc. because they’re unpopular.”

And, according to Krauthammer, the president failed to perform up to his potential as a political orator.

“So, at least he would talk about the future, what he’s going to do,” Krauthammer said. “There was nothing there. I’m amazed that he was — it was like this is a guy who is the A student in the class turning in a paper clearly a C, and the teacher says, ‘How could you do this? Why did you mail it in?’”

“And I felt the Biden speech was infinitely better, because it was empathic and carried the message. But the Obama speech, I thought, was flat and had no content in it.

“Otherwise, I loved it, really.”

Listen to Obama’s speech for yourself below:

Krauthammer’s assessment is emblematic  of the typical Fox News hate machine. Now keep in mind, this is the same Fox News that called out the inaccuracies within Paul Ryan’s speech last week. Which is pretty shocking when you think about it. But that aside, considering the audience they cater to as a premiere news source, what Krauthammer said is to be expected. What I do find funny, however, is that he points out Romney’s plan as being specific. Heck, last time I checked, Romney hasn’t specified how he intends to raise revenue by closing tax loopholes, while providing additional tax cuts (beyond the Bush Tax Cuts) to this country’s wealthiest two percent.

But let’s just assume that Krauthammer is correct; yes, let’s assume Obama’s speech to be short on specifics. Why care about specifics now when Romney hasn’t been specific on anything other than Obama being bad for the economy. Which is kinda funny when you think about it because the stick market doesn’t reflect any market uncertainty. Nope, not with the market reflecting record four-year-highs as it has this week. But don’t tell that to Krauthammer and company.

If you’re like Krauthammer and you believe last night’s speech to be empty, obviously you weren’t paying attention.  So, in the event that you were not, allow me to reiterate the following: Osama bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive [BITCH]! Yeah, how’s that for being short on substance?

  • Now RiPPa, you know damned well that Charles Krauthammer has always been just as cold as a witches tit. He hasn’t had a pulse since the second Reagan administration.

My grandfather used to always say that an empty wagon makes much more noise than a full one. Charles Krauthammer is the one that’s empty.
