Harry Reid Is Right: Bundy Ranch Thugs are Domestic Terrorists
Sen. Harry Reid confirmed yesterday what I have been saying all along, that the faux patriots at Bundy Ranch are domestic terrorists. I’m glad Sen. Reid has used the same strong language that I used in my column earlier this week. The right wing has been very upset at me for using that language. Too damn bad. Reid is now getting the same response from the right. They believe he is “fanning the flames” by simply telling the truth.
Here is the definition of a “domestic terrorist” as defined in the U.S. Code…
- Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
- Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
- Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
The actions at Bundy Ranch incorporate all of the above requirements for domestic terrorism. When people showed up with guns on their sides, and snipers were positioned on overpasses looking down on the federal agents, that was an act that is dangerous to human life and pointing a gun at agents violates federal law.
When civilians, and that is what they are regardless of their high and mighty opinions of themselves, gather with firearms and threaten federal agents and any other civilians that might agree with them, they are intimidating a civilian population, AND trying to influence the policy of a government by intimidation. Obviously by these threats they are affecting the conduct of a government as the agents could not follow through with their work. Bundy Ranch is indeed within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
So as you can see, the term domestic terrorists applies perfectly to the faux patriots that took up arms and threatened government agents that were only doing their jobs.
One can only wonder what would have happened if this all went down in an urban neighborhood where the people taking up arms and threatening the law were black. I think we know. Deaths and arrests. When peaceful citizens gather in front of the stock exchange they are often handcuffed and arrested, sometimes they get tazed and occasionally shot. But the privileged, white faux patriots at the ranch were given a pass. Cliven Bundy, who owes 1.1 million bucks in taxes since the mid- 90′s, was given a pass. If he wasn’t white and rich, all of his property would have been confiscated and if he or anyone else got in the way, they would be in jail.
This is why I call on the feds and Sen. Reid to go back to the ranch and do what they would have done to anyone else who owed that kind of money AND lost their battle in court. Otherwise they are admitting that we live in an unjust, unfair, unequal society where the rich white guys have one set of laws and the rest of us have another. Is that the kind of country this government wants?
They must go back to Bundy Ranch and confiscate the cattle and anything else the law says they can confiscate. If anyone gets in the way they must be arrested. If they take out weapons they must be done away with.
This is the law. This is what you and I would be subject to. Cliven Bundy is a tax cheat. He is very much un-American. He is a moocher, and a louse.
The citizens who showed up to threaten and intimidate the law are indeed domestic terrorists. The words have been spoken. Action must now be taken.
