What 26-year-old has a MySpace page in 2015?

Apparently Christopher Harper-Mercer had one at the time he decided to go all “white man crazy” and shoot up a classroom, killing nine of his fellow classmates and wounding seventeen others. On his MySpace page, Christopher Harper-Mercer described himself as a conservative and of a “mixed race” – like, whatever that means. His father is white, and his mother is black.

Yeah, somebody at the U.S. Dept. of Conspiracy Theory has some explaining to do.

Investigators believe that Chris Harper Mercer, the gunman in the Oregon college shooting, was a hate-filled individual with anti-government and conspiracy tendencies, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the probe said Friday.

 

Mercer’s communications and activities suggest he was supportive of the white supremacist agenda and opposed organized religion, said the source, who did not want to be named because of the ongoing investigation.

 

The 26-year-old gunman, who was killed in an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officers, also liked to discuss military history, the source said. Authorities have obtained some of his writings and a note he left behind. (source)

But anyway, If I didn’t know any better, I’d think there’s a bin filled with loaded firearms and an endless supply of ammunition that sits in the middle of every room, in every mental institution in America, to which every “crazy person” has access.

But, thanks to documented research, we know this isn’t so.

So what’s the big deal about race? Well, one thing we know for sure is that race cannot be separated from acts of violence. I’m not suggesting that one’s race determines one’s proclivity to commit acts of violence – that’s what someone racist will tell you.

However, though largely ignored by many, there is a double standard on the reporting of criminal acts along racial lines. And, this double standard quite naturally shapes our perception of entire groups of people. Which, as you know, often works against racial minorities. Yes, don’t be mad at me for stating the obvious; I didn’t make up the rules.

For example: When a white guy kills people in a mass shooting it’s never discussed as pathology. However, when it’s black-on-black crime it’s something in the DNA of black people.

If a white guy shoots up a school nobody asks, “Where’s his dad?” Whereas, if a Black guy gets arrested for jaywalking the obvious question is.”How long has his dad been in jail?” And, given recent events, a connection between non-crazy-black-guy and Black Lives Matter will be made.

And of course, as is the case with a white shooter, the assumption is that he was mentally ill. Which is sad, because rarely, if ever, is a connection between PTSD and the perpetrators of shootings in black neighborhoods made by anyone.

Instead, all those shootings in Chicago, in particular, exist as yet another example of “stuff black people do.” You know, because black people killing other black people was something that Africans brought to America on the slave ships.

There’s always some asshole on social media – or in a blog post and comment section – quick to parrot ignorant thought, devoid of any semblance of understanding of the residual effects of what has long been government-driven class warfare as income inequality has been on the rise.

Oh well, like Jeb Bush said, “Stuff happens.”

Yep. even if the shooter is a racially ambiguous white supremacist with anti-government leanings and a mother who bragged about all the guns in her home on social media, stuff happens. Because, of course, it’s not like he’s black and anyone saw this mass shooting coming.

Oh well, crazy right-wing nutjobs aside, what happened in Oregon this week was tragic and completely unnecessary. While we debate over tighter gun laws in the wake of yet another mass shooting. Perhaps, this time, someone will introduce the climate of fear that permeates our society.

The type of fear that is largely politically driven that breeds the type of ignorance required to have Donald Trump leading in the polls.

It’s the type of fear that motivates misguided individuals of a certain demographic like Christopher Harper-Mercer,  who are willing to grab any number of firearms to commit mass murder. You know, America: same shit, different day.

People from other countries, violent third world countries, have come here, to the United States in the past and have asked for asylum. Can I do that now? Can I go to Canada and beg them to let me become a citizen of their great country since my country has become a nation of extreme violence where at any time I can be killed by a right wing scum nut with a gun? Can I? I wanna know!

It happens every day now. Police officers are shot dead in cold blood while they get their lunch. They are shot dead by two lowlife scumbag Tea Party members. They are members of the Republican party as the Tea Party has not separated yet. Has not been told to separate by the “mainstream” Republicans. So therefore they are one and the same. These two individuals were at Bundy Ranch, they hated Obama and anyone on “food stamps.” Sounds very “mainstream” Republican to me.

They killed two police officers because they thought they were fighting the new “revolution.” They draped an officer’s body in “Don’t Tread On Me” flags. That’s a slogan we hear all of the time from right wingers, who believe that freedom is being poor with guns. So they can fight the awful police and government agencies who want to take their freedoms away. You can see how sick this is. How mentally fucked up these people are, they are psychotics who are running loose in our streets. Murdering our police officers and threatening to do the same to our politicians. Something else we can blame the most awful President of our times, Ronald Reagan for, letting the crazies out of the mental institutions and those crazies were allowed to procreate and now we deal with their evil spawn.

 GLENN BECK MUST BE ARRESTED

 We deal with them on our television sets. Glenn Beck should be arrested. He should be arrested now. In 2010 Beck, one of those crazies I spoke about, told his followers to “Shoot them in the head” regarding the “communists” who want a revolution. Now with the majority of Beck’s audience being psychopathic, that statement is bad enough. But they interpret “communists” in many ways. The police department is communist to them since it is a government run agency that they feel will try to take their guns and freedoms away. It is an agency they must fight. As Beck said, “Shoot them in the head…they might shoot you first.”

Beck is directly, not indirectly responsible for the deaths of those officers. What he said is not covered under freedom of speech as it was a direct order to incite violence and that’s exactly what happened. Beck must be arrested and indicted on conspiracy to commit murder. It must happen now. If not we are saying it is alright to kill police officers, or any other government worker, because they are “communists.” It will happen again if we don’t take action. Arrest Glenn Beck. Arrest him now!

OUR CHILDREN ARE DYING

Of course we also have to deal with these crazies in our schools. One school shooting after another. It has become so commonplace that it’s just a blip on our Twitter or Facebook feeds. The friends of the kids that are killed tweet their R.I.P’s daily. As though they are tweeting “Happy Graduation” or “Happy Birthday.” It is just expected now. Cry for a few minutes then move on. It’s sick and twisted and the NRA loving Republicans and gun nuts just shrug it off. Their solution is to arm all teachers and children with guns. Yes children. The gun nuts post pictures of their three and four year old kids holding guns. I seem them all the time.Those children should be taken away from them.

We are a sick, cancer ridden nation. Republicans want more guns, more anger, more hate. They want to replace their ultra right wing candidates with ultra ultra right wing candidates. Then replace them with ultra ultra ultra right wing candidates. They want to leave our soldiers behind, then call them and their families horrible names when the black President they hate so much brings them home.

They want a revolution that involves not paying taxes, killing cops and having our children afraid to go to school. As a friend pointed out, the police should notice that it is not the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters that kill them, it’s the right wing scum.

We are living in a crazy house that is called the United States of America.

I don’t want to make this out to be a racial issue because every life is important irregardless of race. I mean, that’s how it’s supposed to be, and I hate to think that the fact that Antoinette Tuff is a bit melanin-challenged has any bearing on what I see as the lack of media converge related to her heroism. But hey, a black woman as a hero for saving lives in a predominantly black school named after a black astronaut in Atlanta? In post-racial America? Man, please! Antoinette Tuff deserves more than a key to the city or to at least have her bad credit wiped off at no charge.

It’s just that for as long as we mourned the loss of lives at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut earlier this year. One would think that perhaps there’d be a ceremony at the White House where she’s given an award; and maybe of course a deal with the IRS that exempts her from federal taxes for the rest of her life. Yes, some small gesture or token of appreciation for saving the potential lives of who knows how many a mentally unstable gunman with 900 rounds of ammo and an AK-47 can impact. You know, some small gesture that goes well beyond a phone call from President Barack Obama as she has since received would be nice. Yes Antoinette Tuff was amazing; and yes, she is a hero and deserves to be treated like one. Like many nameless black women in history, she should be celebrated, and used as an example courage under fire as . Because from all accounts, she has had to endure a lot to be who she is. And like many faceless and nameless people of color in history, she deserves her shine.

There were 19 children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School This week there’s no telling how many lives of children were saved by Antoinette Tuff. As bad as there’s a need for new gun control legislation, let’s hope that this story doesn’t fall by the wayside. Because if there’s anything to be learned from Antoinette Tuff, is that it doesn’t take a “good guy” with guns to stop a “bad guy” with guns, even if some believe that it does. I don’t know whether Antoinette Tuff agrees with that, but we need a monument to be reminded of it.
