Unless you’re the Prince of Brunei or Beyonce, and have the luxury of boasting about not having passengers on your private plane, most of us regular folks have had to experience the pains of flying commercial. The annoyances range from having to contend with flights cancelled at the last minute; cringing while a TSA officer orders you to strip and musses over your Afro; to having an inconsiderate waste of skin recline his seat all the way back into your lap, smashing your knees for most of the trip. Perhaps one of the most common on-flight irritations is petulant children and crying babies. And while wrangling children and playing Baby Whisperer in a confined space during changing altitudes can’t be easy, it definitely doesn’t make it any less challenging for those of us who have to sit and experience the disturbance.

I’ve had my share of on-flight nightmares while traveling, many of which had to do with unruly (and unsupervised) children and screaming, poop-happy babies… but not once, while racked with frazzled nerves, have I ever considered reaching over and slapping anybody’s child.  According to The Smoking Gun, 60-year-old Joe Rickey Hundley – president of Unitech Composites, an aircraft parts manufacturer based in Hayden, Idaho  – did just that to a crying 19-month-old on an Atlanta flight. And what’s worse, Hundley reportedly spat a nasty racial epithet at the 2-year-old toddler, for emphasis. TSG reports …

After demanding that the mother of a crying toddler “shut that nigger baby up”, the male passenger slapped the 19-month-old across the face as a flight prepared to land in Atlanta last Friday evening.  The shocking February 8  incident aboard Delta Airlines Flight 721 resulted in Joe Rickey Hundley being charged with simple assault.  (…) In an interview, Hundley denied striking the toddler or using a racial slur, though he did acknowledge that he “asked the mother to quiet the child.”  Hundley, who said he was traveling to Atlanta to visit a hospitalized relative, described himself as “distraught” on the flight, during which he consumed a single alcoholic beverage.

The Smoking Gun also reports that the toddler’s mother, Jessica Bennett, told investigators that the “aircraft was in final descent” to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, when her child “started to cry due to the altitude change.” Bennett reportedly tried to calm the child, at which point, Hundley used the racial epithet before turning around and open-hand striking the child in the face, causing a scratch below the child’s right eye, making the child scream louder.  Hundley’s violent outburst prompted several passengers – (who overheard and witnessed the encounter at the rear of the plane) – to galvanize and act in Bennett’s defense.  Hundley purportedly appeared drunk as he clumsily boarded the plane and “reeked of alcohol”, according to Bennett.

Joe-Rickey-Hundley-Nigger-BabyHundley, who has a 2007 misdemeanor assault charge in Virginia, declined to comment and referred all press inquiries to his attorney. He’s also been fired from his job for being a violent, drunk and racist piece of shit pending federal investigation.  In an earlier statement to the press, president and CEO of AGC Aerospace and Defense, Composites Group, Al Haase said, the company is taking the matter very seriously: “In accordance with our company’s personal conduct policy, we have suspended the employee pending investigation. The allegations are disturbing and are contradictory to our values.”

No word yet, on whether Joe Rickey Hundley has any Black friends to vouch for him.

    Idaho huh?!?

I’m sure this guy goes to church every Sunday and calls himself a Christian man. I’ll bet his neighbors think he’s a great guy.

Hmmmmm, what are the chances that this guy listens to Conservative talk radio and didn’t vote for Barack Obama in the last election?!? I’m sure he didn’t vote for the president because of his “economic” policies……or maybe it’s because of the president’s stance on capital gains taxes?!?
