Merry Christmas! My wife is Hispanic, I’m Anglo. I’m liberal on some things, conservative on others. I have a degree in business and math. I read all the time , but mostly technical stuff. I’ve published a few in house tech manuals. I’m probably too techie for my own good. I really should not read this racial stuff. It is polarizing. I have some Hispanic in-laws with PHd’ s in Latin American studies, so I get an earful of anti American thought. It is wearing.
My wife has a master’s from AM I in bilingual education, taught in Dallas for 13 years til her health failed.

yes I do have a degree, apparently you think studying is wrong. Too educated? what’s the right balance for knowledge?

Your comment I though was okay, but no one could hardly disseminate enough information in a single comment to really get to the heart of our problems and come up with solutions.

To be honest, I cannot tell where you’re coming from on here. I have seen your avatar before, Squid. You’ve made some incendiary comments about race in your moments of white bonding.

If you really thought those ideas you shared were good then you should pursue them if you can or support bloggers that talk about them when they talk about them.

We all know that opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and everyone seems to think that everyone else’s stinks.

What I don’t understand is how a rational thinking person cannot sit back and logically make the connection between what Mandella and his fellow South Africans did against their government and what our founding fathers did against theirs.

It’s the same thing.

Both groups tried peaceful means for years and when that didn’t work, they opted to change their tactics in order to become free.

It’s the same thing.

When someone like Newt Gingrich takes a moment to acknowledge the similarities in history and applaud Mandela, his followers have a hard time of acknowledging the same because they paint so many things with race. If they would only take a step back and look at circumstance…..and not the color of one’s face, they’d probably see what I feel to be the reality of the world.

It’s the same thing.

Criminality in the US is linked to poverty, poverty is linked to low IQ because of nutrition or lack of environmental stimulation. How would you solve the problem? Prison doesn’t seem to work, only makes them worse. I’ve known a couple of ex cons.
Single mother hood is a cause. Fathers are important! Laws need to change, prison should be the last resort. Social policy should encourage men to stay with their girl friends. Free birth control! Restructure public housing to include ownership through sweat equity – like a condo! Community policing – etc.
