Either way, a year-long suspension seems harsh. Thing is, this wasn’t one of those “on-the-job” scenarios that’s discussed in training as it is for adults like us. To that point, I doubt whether this kid (or any kid) has an understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment.

It’s been a minute since I was in high school but I can’t imagine hugging any of my teachers. There’s a basic no hands rule that I think applies to most people. I tend to avoid hugging women with whom I’m not …close.. heh-heh. At 17 this doesn’t necessarily have the presumption of innocence that it would at 4 or 5. At workplace training for sexual harassment unwanted physical contact is almost always one of the FIRST things raised as red flags.
