At first I was in full agreement with you, then I watched the whole video and have to say he was wrong, he should have been tazed. Just because we have become hardcore and don’t think of “jaywalking” as a crime doesn’t make it any less so. He is very lucky they followed the book and didn’t notice he had a gun while they were resisting him, they might have shot him as he also never said he had a gun which is also required by law. If you have a gun permit you do not refuse to ID yourself, you ID yourself and tell the cops you are carrying, that is law. The guy crossed the streets jaywalking against traffic and we know this happens a bit forcing drivers to slow down or swerve or what have you. The cops asked him for ID, all he had to do was show his ID and probably get a ticket. Instead, he was carrying a gun legally, with his friend also carrying a gun, pepper spray, brass knuckles and more ILLEGALLY. He was a fool with all this shit on him to start fighting with cops. IN civilized society you don’t get to decide which laws are
bullshit and which are not. He was way wrong and stupid too being that he was carrying a gun and so was his friend illegally. Sometimes it’s better to be smart than uber militant.

I saw this video I got pissed; he really had no reason to even stop him. He just saw two black people and that was his justification. What’s unfortunate is that the lasy who filmed it was arrested for failing to give her name. And, even scarier, for unlawful possession of a gun. The gun was in the brotha’s backpack, and when it fell to the ground while wrestling with the police, she picked it up. The brotha had a license to carry a concealed weapon — imagine that, a black man doing legal shit — but by virtue of her picking up the backpack, the gun was in her possession.

Yeah I saw this video and wondered how it ended for him. He has a right to ask what law he has broken. The fact is the cop was looking to jack him up from the get go. He wasn’t posing a physical threat and they had no business tasing him.
