I recently began writing a blog about my experiences with dating and finding
love. It tends to be more about sex than anything else. ha.

Anyway, just stopping by to let you know that your blog has been really
interesting to read. Visitors who may be interested in learning more about the
secret world of phone
sex operators
are also welcome here.

Thanks for a good, well-rounded blog about this. Great job.

You are obviously a “thorough” thinker, and many people (including the supposedly academic-minded) are not. A truly judicious and nonjudgmental assessment of these issues is very sorely needed. You are a provider of such.

I’m an author/advocate of sex workers’ rights. I believe in the power of the creative writing piece. Such writing shows rather than tells. I’m going to try to copy an entire short story here. It addresses everything you’re saying, and then some. If it copies, feel free to circulate it anywhere you like, wherever you think it may do some good.

Well, the story didn’t copy. It’s 2000 characters over the limit. Anyone interested, email me and I’ll send it. It’s about an independent escort who likes her job and has been through the horror of arrest.

I know I’m navigating a minefield of issues here and, like you, I fear objectification. I also realize that much porn is formulaic and anything BUT “sexy” — I associate the process of formulaic porn with how we as a society develop and implement social policy.

But if  we surrender sexuality — the body — then we’re in a world of trouble. Thank you for your intelligent, and well-thought out response!

Is it just me or does it seem like every politician that speaks out against pornography eventually gets caught banging one of his employees wives or someone’s little boy.

I have gone through a personal change-dynamic on this topic for different (and highly personal reasons). I understand the importance of not objectifying women (nay, *people*, in general), while likewise understanding the matter of freedom of choice *by* those same people in consensual sexual/sensual activities. Even as a proud feminist, I cherish the freedom to make a personal choice in the matter. My personal distaste for pornography of certain *types* has to do with my own personal history, which is not open for discussion here (though I have discussed it elsewhere). That distaste, however, is mine and mine alone…and not something I would dare to press on other people. There is a form of liberation and joy that comes with the freedom of self expression within the sex industry that is not matched anywhere else. Our societal mixed messages contribute to the cognitive dissonance – associated with exploitation versus sensationalizion with its “taboo” counterpoints (mostly religiously oriented). This is going to likely remain a difficult topic of discussion until such time as our puritanical roots grow beyond a kind of national puberty and into adulthood – so that sex can be put in its proper focus…where it can be celebrated for its joy and beauty…relegating exploitation to ITS proper place, as well, instantly recognizable for what it is.
