Welfare. White Folks, & That Stupid EBT Music Video

Aug 25, 2011 14 Comments by

I’m not going to get into some of the stupid stuff “we” do to hold ourselves to perceived sterotypes. Nor am I going to address the fact that foolishness like this is all the fault of the Black men who abandons the mother(s) of their children.

Nope, instead I’m just gonna say that while “certain people” may think this shit is funny, and emblematic of all that’s wrong with America. There are a lot of “them” swiping those EBT cards today in this shitty-ass ecobnmy; and, they’re doing it with smiles on their faces. They may not be dancing like the folks in the following video, nor feel ashamed to partake of government services.

But please believe, white folks are swiping them cards, baby.

Oh,and umm, first person to comment and suggest that this is just how Black people think, is gonna get a chop to the damn throat. Last time I checked, they reformed this shit in 1996. And yes, more single mothers are forced out into the workforce and not allowed to sit on their asses and collect “free money” as some people think. Don’t believe me? Read it for yourself: here.

Besides, this is “satirical” and not intended to outrage anyone.

Sir can you point to the link that explains this video to be satirical? I’d love to read what the creators had to say.

    LMBO! Dis be mah shyt!

Fo’ real, people totally miss the point with shyt nowadays. For me, satire only works when it causes the reader or viewer to question the issue being brought forth. If it doesn’t do that, then it’s just parroting the same stereotypical nonsense back at us instead of informing us. Wangechi Mutu could teach them some things.

      Thank you.

This here is just a neverending cavalcade of everlasting ignance and niggatry.

Yeah, no doubt about this hot mess; as a certified hood rat, I must shake my head and say this video doesn’t even qualify at being called ghetto. it’s just an abysmal fail.

Seriously though, Mutu’s work is incredible. She takes everything from national geographic pics and science journals to images cut out of porn and fashion magazines and combines them into these peculiar collages that so perfectly critique stereotypes not only against women in general, but black women especially, along with people of African descent, and problems caused by colonialism- the war over diamonds in Sierra Leone, for instance. She’s a master of the abject.

I just spent the entire morning on that page bantering with some of the idiots up there. From debunking the myths of blacks having a higher crime rate than whites (debunked by the FBI), to exaggerated claims about welfare, to racist myths about Africa and even the supposed Caucasian’s contributions to Native American culture through the “Solutreans”, I managed to keep my relatively calm demeanor- which is normally something I find a challenge when you’re dealing with highly “educated” elitists spewing n*gger and speaking in defaced ebonics in an attempt to intimidate you.

The debate lasted for hours, but in the end I came out victorious and adeptly dismantled every argument the guy presented. Of course I didn’t do so to try to win, but to prove a point, which was inevitably true by the time I’d finally resigned to bask in my glory: No matter how many facts you throw at a racist, you can never enlighten them, especially with this shyt.  How can you tell the truth with a lie (or several)?

All the disgusting hate SPEWED all over that youtube video page! Vicious ignorant hate mongers! You cant make a statement with them around.

I know right? But the problem is the statement being made here is one the creator of the video actually believes in. She claims to be critiquing black women who abuse the EBT system, even though you CANT buy all those crazy products that they do in the video. You can only buy food items pre-approved by ss. Not to mention she’s practically reviving – and to the racists up on that page, affirming- the black welfare queen caricature. Shyt like this is bound to attract racists, just like that satirical Birther video that spawned a whole phenomenon in politics.

Woman responds to Chapter’s video on black youth project.com: http://www.blackyouthproject.com/blog/2011/08/the-viral-video-ebt-we-have-failed-you-chapter-an-open-letter/

I heard that the woman who made this “satirical” video will be going on tour very soon…. as an opening act for Ann Coulter.

She describes satire in the following way:

“In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.”

The ONLY people who can possibly consider this “constructive social criticism” are people who are down with the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck and the folks over at Stormfront.

I don’t know about Ann Coulter. The girl’s rap name is Chapter.
